For immediate release:

Gwinnett Sheriff’s deputies serving a routine eviction arrested a woman after discovering 20 marijuana plants growing inside a Norcross residence.

Jonda Lynn Bernice Carethers, 30, was charged with manufacturing marijuana after deputies discovered the plants growing in a small room off the first floor of the townhome located at 6351 Views Trace in Norcross.

She had a fairly elaborate system established with exhaust fans, lights and humidifiers. She stated at the time of her arrest the plants were hers and she was trying to learn how to grow them.

This is the second incident in a week involving an eviction and marijuana. Last week, a Snellville man was arrested after deputies carrying out an eviction discovered six marijuana plants growing inside the back of a TV. He was arrested and charged with manufacturing marijuana.
