Routine jail visit ends in drug arrest

A man was arrested on drug charges at the Gwinnett County Jail Friday after deputies noticed an odor of marijuana emanating from him as he arrived to pick up the property of another inmate.

Jordan David Mendez, 19, of Duluth was questioned by deputies about the smell and admitted to smoking marijuana just prior to coming to the jail. Deputies discovered 14 small baggies of marijuana inside his vehicle. He was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and crossing the guard line with drugs.

He is currently being held without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail.
