For Immediate Release:

LAWRENCEVILLE – A registered sex offender was arrested along with his parents Thursday after Gwinnett Sheriff’s deputies serving a search warrant located marijuana plants growing outside the family’s residence at 710 Clemson Lane.

Information was received by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department that John Cepada Ross, 31, – a registered sex offender in Gwinnett County, was in possession of a firearm and had pointed the weapon in the direction of his neighbor following a disagreement.

Deputies obtained a search warrant to locate the weapon at Mr. Ross’ residence. When they arrived, they found seven marijuana plants growing in plain view by the exterior of the residence. Sheriff’s deputies discovered more than four ounces of the drug packaged in plastic bags inside the house along with $27,000 in cash. The weapon was also located. The total weight including the plants growing outside was more than six pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $10,000.

Mr. Ross was charged with Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act possession of more than an ounce of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was on the sex offender registry for a 2002 child molestation conviction. He is being held without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail.

Also charged for Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act possession of more than an ounce of marijuana were Judith Gail Ross, 60, of Lawrenceville and John A. Ross, 60, of Lawrenceville. Both posted an $11,200 bond and were released.
