Starting Salary (Deputy I) - $33,037.00 / Year
Starting Salary (Deputy II - P.O.S.T. Certified) - $37,648.00 / Year

$2,000 Hiring Incentive for New Employees.
3% education incentive for an Associate's degree, or a 6% education incentive for a Bachelor's degree;
Lodging/meals reimbursement is provided for out of area applicants in the 2nd phase for up to 3 nights;
A $1,500 relocation allowance is available for out of area new hires.

Requirements for Deputy Sheriff I/Jailer

High school diploma or GED equivalency.  Must possess a valid driver's license.  Must be at least 20 years of age at the time application is submitted.  Applicant must be a United States citizen.  Must attend and successfully complete the Basic Jail Officers Training course within six months of employment date.  Must be willing and able to perform rotating shift work.  Must successfully pass the pre-employment process which includes written exam and complete a comprehensive background investigation.

In order to conduct the background investigation, the Sheriff's Department will request a copy of  the following:

 Birth Certificate
 High School Diploma or GED
 Valid Driver's License

Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a physical exam, drug screen, polygraph and psychological evaluation.

In order to advance to the Deputy Sheriff II position, you must pass the physical fitness assessment and become P.O.S.T. (Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council) certified as a Peace Officer under regulations of the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council.
