 Gwinnett Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man wanted in connection with a machete attack on another man.

 Joey Harrison Shelby, 40, of Norcross was arrested yesterday at his place of employment on Breckinridge Boulevard. He was taken into custody at a loading dock of the warehouse.

 According to reports, Mr. Shelby threatened to kill the man and then assaulted him with the machete by attempting to strike him with it after he broke into the man’s apartment by kicking in the door. The man was able to fight his way out of the apartment and get free from Mr. Shelby.

 Mr. Shelby was taken into custody by Sheriff’s deputies without incident and is charged with aggravated assault, burglary, battery and criminal damage to property second degree. The assault occurred on September 17 at Hampton Xing in Norcross.
