Located 30 miles northeast of Atlanta, Gwinnett County remains one of the fastest growing counties in the nation. The population exploded in the 1980s and continues to grow at an amazing rate. The latest population figures show Gwinnett County with more than 757,104 residents and as our county continues to grow so do the challenges and demands on law enforcement.
The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department is committed to provide our community with employees who are professional, efficient and well trained. Our primary levels of responsibility are to maintain the jail, provide courthouse security to the Gwinnett County Justice and Administration Center and the Recorder’s Court/Juvenile building, serve all civil processes, maintain the sex offender registry and serve felony and misdemeanor arrest warrants. Calls for service and the investigation of major crimes in the county are handled by the Gwinnett County Police Department.
