For Immediate Release:

The Gwinnett Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Unit located and arrested a second man Wednesday night involved in a fatal fire incident that left three children dead last week.

On Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Fugitive Unit was able to confirm with Gwinnett Police that Joseph Perez was at the scene of the house fire that occurred at 1197 Spring Mill Drive in Lilburn. Deputies located Mr. Perez while searching for Ivan Gonzalez, wanted for three counts of murder, arson and drug trafficking charges related to the deaths of the three children. Mr. Perez was interviewed by deputies in the search for Mr. Gonzalez.

As Gwinnett Police and Gwinnett Sheriff’s Deputies shared information on the case, deputies learned that Gwinnett Police had received a name of Joe Perez and nothing further as being someone who was present at the time of the fire.

Armed with the information Gwinnett deputies provided on Joseph Perez, Gwinnett Police put together a photo line-up and took out drug trafficking warrants once he was positively identified.

Gwinnett deputies with the Fugitive Unit went back to Mr. Perez’s address in College Park and arrested him for trafficking in methamphetamine. He is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.
