For immediate release:
Deputies assigned to the Investigative Services Division (ISD) at the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office have apprehended suspect Josue Ordonez-Ruiz, wanted for shooting a man who was holding Ordonez-Ruiz’s own child during a 2010 domestic violence incident.
On October 30, 2010, Gwinnett County Police were dispatched to a “person shot” call at 5735 Everglades Trail in Norcross, where Ordonez-Ruiz’s ex-wife, Brandy Marez, claimed that her ex-husband followed her and friends home from a bar and began firing a revolver before fleeing in his vehicle. Jose Lemus, who was holding the divorced couple’s 7 year old child, was grazed in the leg by a bullet. He was treated at the scene by responding fire rescue personnel. Attempts to locate Ordonez-Ruiz were not successful and police obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office ISD deputies followed up on leads that Ordonez-Ruiz had returned from Mexico and was back in the metro-Atlanta area. Their investigation led them to 3585 Meadowglen Village Lane, Apt. O in Doraville, where Ordonez-Ruiz was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Gwinnett County Jail. He is being held without bond on the charge of Aggravated Assault and also has an ICE detainer.
