Deputy/Jailer I is $34,028 annually. Georgia Post Certified Law Enforcement Deputy II $38,770 annually. There is a 3% Education Incentive for an Associate’s Degree or a 6% Educational Incentive for
a Bachelors Degree for both positions.
Requirements for Employment with the GCSO
The Applicant Must:
- Have a High School diploma or GED equivalency
- Possess a valid driver’s license with good driving record
- Be at least 20 years of age at the time the application is submitted
- Be a United States citizen
- Be willing and able to perform rotating shift work
In addition, the applicant must successfully pass the pre-employment process, which includes a comprehensive background investigation and an interview, prior to receiving a conditional job offer.
To receive a final job offer the applicant must pass a physical exam, drug screen, polygraph and a psychological evaluation. Each segment of the application process must be followed and completed in
accordance with the guidelines and time restraints applied during the process.

Applicant must attend and successfully complete the Basic Jail Officer’s Training course within six months of employment date to remain employed with the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office.
The applicant will need to pass the basic mandate training required by the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council to be a certified law enforcement officer. Law Enforcement
is a continuing education career and the applicant will be required to attain job related certifications and maintain those certifications during their career. There is also twenty hours a
year of mandatory training.
