Gwinnett Sheriff’s Office employees take advantage of our new Employee Referral Program. Receive up to $1000.00 when you refer qualified candidates that are hired, trained and remain actively employed for one year. Funds are limited for this program. For further information see details below:

A GCSO employee may be eligible to receive compensation for referring external applicants who are subsequently employed by GCSO and successfully complete the required training program as a sworn Deputy Sheriff (Civilian job positions referrals are NOT eligible for this program). All applicants shall receive equal consideration without regard to race, religion, sex, national origin, age or disability.

Employees eligible to receive compensation for successful referrals must be employed with Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office as a full time or part time employee at the time of referral and compensation payment date. Program shall NOT be retroactively applied for previous referrals, referrals not listed at the time of initial application.

The following employees are not eligible for compensation under the Employee Referral Program:

  • Sheriff Background investigators
  • Sheriff’s Office appointed management staff
  • Personnel assigned to the Office of Professional Standards or who assist with Recruiting efforts
  • Employees holding job functions which include recruiting
  • Human Resources personnel responsible for managing positions
An applicant eligible for referral shall:
  • meet the minimum qualifications for the position referred
  • appropriately designate the referring employee during the initial application process
The following applicants are NOT eligible for referral:
  • Individuals who are actively participating in the hiring process prior to referral
  • Employees seeking placement through promotion, demotion, transfer or rehire
  • Gwinnett County employees who were terminated for cause
***Program shall NOT be retroactively applied for previous referrals. Positions eligible for compensation under the Employee Referral Program shall be so identified on the announcement of vacancy Employee Referral Program compensation will be paid in two payments. Payment shall be included in the referring employee’s pay check and shall be subject to applicable taxes. The first payment, equal to ½ of the referral compensation amount, will be made on or after the referred applicant has been employed with GCSO, in their originally hired classification, for six months. A subsequent payment equal to the remaining ½ of the compensation amount will be made on or after the referred employee’s one year anniversary of employment in the classification they were originally hired. The new hire must be actively employed for one year in order for the referring employee to receive full compensation for the referral.
